SCREEN PRINTING 101

Here are the summary steps to make your next custom screen printing job a masterpiece!

ART PREPARATION

The first part of creating your custom apparel starts with getting your art print ready. This is where we make changes and separate your design by color. Once the art is ready, we print each color on it's own transparency and send it over to the screen room.

SCREEN ROOM

In order to print your design, we need to burn each color on separate screens. We carefully choose the correct mesh screen for each color and expose them accordingly. After each transparency is burned onto the screen, we use water pressure to blow out the image. The screens are then dried and prepped and ready to be set up on the press!

ON THE PRESS

Setting up screens on the press to create your design is truly a work of art. It takes a vast amount of knowledge in order to lay the ink on the garment properly to create breathtaking apparel. There are many variables involved and the press needs to be set just right to work properly and efficiently.

As the shirts are printed and come off the press, they are sent down the dryer to cure and set the ink to the shirt. This allows for the print to adhere to the material and withstand years of vigorous washing. Here at Coastal Print House, we want your shirts to last so you can enjoy them for a long time!

AFTER THE PRESS
